Northern Adriatic Crossings

My friend Wilhelm and I reached Marina Stella by car at noon on Saturday, June 8th 2019. We bought some provisions in Palazzolo dello Stella and had an excellent dinner at Restaurant 900 All’Isola. Next morning we got the boat ready for our cruise.

At noon we joined the traditional Whitsunday celebration with the marina family and staff. We enjoyed the music and sumptuous lunch with many local specialities. With high tide we reached Laguna di Marano, where we anchored near Canale Cialisia.

Early next morning we passed Lignano and sailed west to the beach of Jesolo, where we took Wilhelm's son with family on board for a short sailing demo. At noon we continued west and entered Venice Lagoon through Porto di Lido. Via Treporti we reached Burano, where we anchored in 3m northeast of the Vaporetto station . By Dinghy we crossed Canale Burano, visited Burano and had a luxury dinner in Taverna Vinessa in Mazzorbo.

Next morning we took the dinghy to Torcello, passed the elegant Ponte del Diavolo, moored north in Canale di Torcello and enjoyed a detailed visit of the cathedral and the splendid surroundings.

At noon we raised the anchor and motored via Murano and San Michele to Marina Santelena, where we moored our boat for two nights and had a good Pizza at Vecia Gina. The following day we visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Magazzini Del Sale, and Punta della Dogana.
For lunch we had the best Tramezzini in Venice at Bar Alla Toleta
In the afternoon we visited Palazzo Grassi and then went to Arsenale enjoying the Biennale. A rather touristy dinner with seafood and pasta we had at Nevodi

Early Thursday 13th we visited the Rialto fish market for some sogliola, shrimps and vegetables, and then left Santelena for a cruise thru Porto Marghera, passed Fusina with the mouth of famous Naviglio del Brenta, and finally anchored to the west of Poveglia, where we took a swim and prepared our exceptional fish dinner. In the evening we left Venice through Porto di Malamocco and had a wonderful night passage with 4 bft of continuous south wind.

At 4 am we reached Piran in Slovenia and anchored in Uvala Strunjan. After a relaxing swim we moored in Marina Izola, visited the nice peninsula and had dinner at Gostilna Ribic. Next morning we anchored east of Rtic Ronek until noon and then sailed back to Lignano and reached Marina Stella 3 hours before high tide in the evening. We celebrated our Adriatic cruise with an excellent dinner at Da Boschet.

We sailed 43h and logged 180sm in 6 days.
