Spring Cruise between Torrential Rainfalls

After some rainy days in Slovenija visiting Hisa Franko and the wine region of Brda weatherforecast promised 5 days with some wind and sun. So on Wednesday 22nd May my brother and I left Marina Stella thru Canale Cialisia for Koper, where we moored alongside in Marina Koper and had a interesting dinner at Restavracija Okus.

Next day we bunkered some diesel and motored along the coast to Piran and the bay of Portoroz, where we had spent a holiday with our parents and sister around 1960. A slight northeasterly wind sent us to Novigrad, where we moored at the outer breakwater and had an excellent raw fish dinner at Damir&Ornella.

On Friday 24th we sailed further south to Rovinj, where we visited the new marina, but continued to Uvala Pulari, where we anchored in turquoise seas, took a swim in clear water with only 18 degrees celsius. For dinner we cooked two nice branzinos. Next morning with slight a nice southeasterly winds we sailed north and a anchored in Uvala Dalia south of Umag. After a refreshing swim we prepared some spaghetti tonno.

Early next morning the weather forecast informed us about the next oncoming front of bad weather. So we sailed north across the Adria with soft southeasterly winds back to Lignano. We reached Marina Stella in the afternoon at high tide and celebrated our short cruise with an excellent meal at Da Boschet. We left our boat on Monday, 27th in heavy rain, had a nice pizza at Da Michele and headed back to Vienna by car.

We sailed 33h and logged 153sm in 5 days.
