Grandsons Sailing the Northern Adriatic

After some days at leisure in Marina Stella my grandsons Laurenz and Valentin, my daughter and my wife set sail with nice southerly winds to Uvala Strunjan on July 6th, 2019. We anchored in the nice bay and prepared some Pasta Nona with ham and ricotta. At 22:00 at night a heavy southwesterly gale hit us with hail and high waves, but our strong anchor held steady. After a day swimming at anchor we motored with clear sky to Umag, where we declared entry into Croatia and then sailed to quiet Uvala Funtana, where we anchored in clear 3m waters and cooked some Palatschinkas for the children.

Early next morning we motored to Rovinj, where we moored in the new Marina for a hefty price of 1209 Kuna. We visited the old city and St. Euphemia. A very good dinner we enjoyed at Balbi. Next day we continued some 7 sm south to our favorite Uvala Polaris, where we spent three nights at anchor, enjoying the clear waters and the nearby camping site with many water sports, supermarket Konzum and Fish Restaurant Feral.

On July 13th we sailed north, bunkered diesel in Rovinj Town Quai and bought two nice Branzinos, which we cooked with some vegetables in the oven during a thunderstorm in nice Uvala Cervar Porat. Next morning we strolled in the near recreation park, swam a lot, then declared exit in Novigrad and crossed the northern Adriatic, where we entered the Laguna di Marano two hours before high tide and moored our boat at sunset back in Marina Stella.

My young crew sailed 128sm in 26 hours and spent 11 days an board.
